Solid Fuel Heating Course
This course is written and certificated by the APHC. The training course is a method of proving competence in the installation of solid appliances and heating systems fed by solid fuels under the requirements of Building Regulations Competent Persons Schemes.
Objectives
To provide the relevant knowledge and understanding to meet the requirements of current Building Regulations for the design and installation of solid fuel appliances and heating systems fed by solid fuel in domestic properties.
Anyone involved or who intends to become involved in the design and installation of solid fuel heating systems. This does not just apply to installers but also architects, merchants, chimney sweeps etc.
Entry Requirements
The course is aimed primarily at practicing heating engineers who already have some knowledge of the fundamental requirements of solid fuel appliances and heating systems.

- Solid fuel pellet stoves
- Solid fuel & wood burning appliances
- Requirements of Part J and Part L1 of the Building Regulations
- Flues and Chimneys Requirements
- Ventilation Requirements
- SEDBUK efficiency
- Storage of fuel and testing for moisture content
- Design and installation of solid fuel appliances and heating systems
COURSE DURATION
2 days
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive an APHC Solid Fuel certificate of competence.
